Making a Boy Scout

About two years ago, my son told me that he really wanted to sign up for Boy Scouts.  I reached out to three different troops in my area, with little-to-no response.  His interest in scouting continued to grow, despite the fact that none of his friends or family were in scouts, and despite the fact that we couldn’t find an active troop seemingly anywhere.  After a year of sporadic inquiries, including an inquiry to the district itself, I learned of an active troop that came highly recommended (more…)

Adventures of an REI Garage Sale pt 2

Over the weekend, we camped out at our local REI for one of their garage sales.  You can read the first part of the experience here.  The weather was quite warm which led to a smaller than usual turnout, but the event still drew a large crowd.  This REI location had also had another Garage Sale recently, which may have contributed to the smaller crowd.  The selection of items was surprisingly good considering how recently they had a sale. Adventures of an REI Garage Sale pt 1

My husband and I are far from being REI Garage Sale experts, but with each sale we are getting better and better at our strategy.  REI is a Co-Op / outdoor recreational store and school.  It is known for having the best satisfaction and return policy around, excellent outdoor classes, and rewarding member benefits.  It is a campers / hikers / bikers/ paddlers / climbers / yogis paradise.
